Luciola

The protocol

Luciola is a decentralized social protocol. An Identity signs Actions; actions are stored on Nodes and flow between nodes along relationships.

  • All nodes are equal: no central node, no global index, no shared blocklist.
  • Identity belongs to the user, rooted in a master key the user holds.
  • Content flows only along relationships, and every action is signed and verifiable on any node.

Spark

luciola-spark is a Luciola node in one binary. It serves the protocol to other nodes and a web app to its members, which they can add to their home screen.

All it takes is a Linux server and a domain name: one settings file, one data folder, and Caddy or nginx in front for HTTPS. Upgrading is replacing the binary. It is free software, under the AGPL.
